We felt like it might be nice for our clients to get to know our team, so we have decided to write a little bit about the people who make up our many different departments. We’re going to start out with the Website Development Team, as they are some of the most incredibly interesting and talented people in the world. Plus, they were the only ones with ten minutes to spare today!
Just kidding, they’re all pretty great. So, without further ado, we are delighted to introduce you to Aaron, Toby and Smithy!
Website Development Team: Aaron Davis – Head of Website Development
Favourite Work Memory
Smithy’s ‘hot wing challenge’ face. This took shape when a bunch of the guys from the office visited local eatery Wing N’ Ting at The Neighbourhood, which resulted in some pretty fantastic footage for the rest of us to enjoy.
Favourite Thing About The Job
Problem-solving (‘that’s what coding is’) and the creativity of website design.
Biggest Accomplishment At Work
‘Raising a website from the dead’. The website was poorly coded and had no backup, so Aaron had to do the whole thing manually and it took forever, but he nailed it.
Most Commonly Asked Question At Work
‘As you do graphic design, can you draw?’ … No. Otherwise, people ask about what the job entails and then just kind of glaze over.
Hobbies/Interests
Hiking, camping and learning new programmes. Recently, Aaron has been teaching himself to use Blender, allowing him to create 3D modelling and animation.
Party Trick
Aaron couldn’t think of one, but then we reminded him that earlier that day he had walked through the office into the kitchen with a glass balanced on his head. He did it so smoothly it was like he’d glued it on.
Desert Island Discs
No Less Violent – Bury Tomorrow
Bones – Young Guns
Architects – Little Wonder
Website Development Team: Toby Tomlinson – Website Developer
Favourite Work Memory
Jack surprising him with a bar of dark chocolate. Cute!
Favourite Thing About The Job
Having varied clients.
Biggest Accomplishment At Work
Beating everyone at table football, and successfully annoying the Content Team. (Thanks, Tobe!).
Most Commonly Asked Question At Work –
‘Where are we at with?…’ or ‘did you watch Succession?’
Hobbies/Interests
Football (Man U fan), tennis, F1, playing badminton.
Party Trick
The Napoleon Dynamite dance. However, Toby claimed he couldn’t remember it and refused to perform for us. Fingers crossed for the Christmas Party.
Desert Island Discs
Lady Grinning Soul – David Bowie
Pictures of You – The Cure
Marquee Moon – Television
Website Development Team: Thomas Smith (AKA Smithy) – Junior Designer
Favourite Work Memory
A night out with The Joker (Aaron), following the office Halloween Party. Smithy was pretty gutted to have missed seeing Aaron’s shark costume in person the year before. Clearly, he’s our King of Fancy Dress. To be fair, we all smashed it this year.
Favourite Thing About The Job
Working with friends and the collective creativity that that brings. Also, easy lunchtime access to Greggs!
Biggest Accomplishment At Work
Having his first website signed off and going live.
Most Commonly Asked Question At Work
‘Smithy… can you do this for me?’.
Hobbies/Interests
Cycling, anime, gaming (particularly D&D, Warhammer and Pokémon). Following this answer, Smithy told me to ‘maybe put something trendy so I don’t look like an imbecile’. That probably gives you more insight than the actual answer.
Party Trick
The fork/matchstick balancing trick, like this.
Desert Island Discs
Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
Car Radio – Twenty One Pilots
Summing Up
Well, we hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know our Website Development Team. Here are a few key takeaways:
Aaron is a genius both in terms of his computer wizardry and fancy dress skill. Getting Toby to talk in full sentences is like getting blood from a stone (perhaps he prefers to express himself in the form of dance). Smithy is trendy, you can tell by his use of words like ‘trendy’.
